Tea Party expects “major announcement” by Sarah at Indianola Balloon Grounds on Sept. 3

Fox News reports that the co-founder of Tea Party of America says, “All we’re being told is that she’s going to make a major announcement,” at the hot air balloon grounds on Sept. 3.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal is citing “fresh hints from Sarah Palin that she could jump in.”

And a story in The Guardian today points out that Sarah has “just released a fancy election campaign-style video, entitled “Iowa passion”, that suggests more than anything else she’s done of late that she’s about to jump into the race. And the date? According to the video, it could come on 3 September when Palin’s scheduled to address a major Tea Party rally in Iowa…”

Anybody want to read tea leaves?

What happened to the Bob and Mark show promise?

  • curious:

She’s like a stripped down to her last long boa. It’s either got to come off and she runs or she runs from the stage. Her shrinking but incredible loyal cult followers are foaming at the mouth as the boa moves closed and closer to revealing the tender morsels they’ve been dreaming of since 2008. Will she really show her skin or will she simply dance away again leaving them maddened and in despair? If she throws in one can assume the MSM and LSM will come in hard and her opponents will take off the gloves and start smacking. Add in there are several outside forces ready to pounce and several writers moving forward? It should be a raucous first three weeks. Not sure what that does to SaraPac expenditures or whether the cult who feeds SaraPac will dig even deeper and send money to both? I just don’t see how it benefits her in any way unless the SaraPac account is running dry.

  • mitch:

A very public psychological breakdown. The ultimate in excuses.

  • Ivyfree:

Fox News is quoting a Teabagger?

I find that deeply funny, in a disturbing sort of way.

  • lisa:

Fox will dump her if she does and if she doesn’t. She is sensing she is a has-been. And, there is no way she will be able to run in 2016 because she will be at her expiration date for the old blogger guys in their jammies.

She tried out the Palin is Reaganesque narrative and it went over like a lead balloon. Reagan’s kids were beyond furious. Nancy Reagan also thinks she is a barf. So, no she isn’t a Ronny.

  • Wis:

It doesn’t take reading the tea leaves to figure out she will run. A sane, rational person in her situation, and evaluating their odds, would NOT run. She is neither. Her anti-authoritarian junior-high school mentality and narcissistic personality disorder require that she throw her hat into the ring. But after a while of ruffling everyone’s feathers, stealing the spotlight, and running around gathering yet more attention and $$$, she will drop out. I know her type……

  • craigtamy:

I tend to believe she’s going to announce she’s not running, due to the mainstream media being so mean to her and use her kids once again as an excuse. She has to make is sound really pathetic so the Palin cult will still send her their last pennies. God forbid she has to get a real job. But, I’ve been wrong before so who knows. I live in Vegas, I should probably go place bets on her playing the victim card again.

  • Enjay in E MT:

    Please Lord, give us strength.

If $arahPalin throws her hat in the ring –
we’ll be swimming in the Sea of Pee
    (Propoganda)

  • JR:

    She will run.
Delusions of grandeur – the false belief that one is famous or publicly important or is a god.
Megalomania – characterized by an inflated sense of self-esteem and overestimation by persons of their powers and beliefs.
Grandiosity – the larger-than-life feelings of superiority.
Narcissistic – feels entitled & special but devoid of empathy, uses others to achieve his or her own ends.

  • mommom:

I believe she will announce some new “Palin Foundation” that she will be the CEO of.Something the bots can donate to.If she runs and wins she has to do the job,and she can’t.If she runs and loses she’s a has been also ran.

  • Wolfbitch:

Maybe all she’s going to do is announce is which candidate she’ll be supporting. Now that Perry’s in the race, I expect she’ll choose him. Maybe he told her he’d take her as VP if he won the nomination.

  • mudkitten:

Promises, shromises. What’s a few broken promises among old friends?

  • Melly:

I agree with you Wolfbitch…She’ll endorse, and it will be Perry. But I don’t think he’d take her as VP and I don’t think she would want it. Next option: she’ll announce she’s set up an exploratory committee. Next option: She’ll announce she’s running third party.

  • Mo Money:

The happiest person in America will be Barack Obama if she announces that she is running. She will need more than the Massey family to convince minorities than she would be better than Obama.

  • Molly_WI:

Oh Sarah Please Please Please run on the “Tea Party” ticket; third party tickets are just so wonderful, and then you can keep talking sh&t about our current president for four more years, and your hillbilly family will remain miles away from 1600 Pennsylvania.

  • omomma:

It’s kind of like waiting for the rapture. Or something…

  • ella:

She is being pushed against the wall by none other than Ailes himself – I LOVE all of the articles and media people asserting she will announce at the hot air balloon event!

“Conservative Feud: Ailes Gets Rove to Call Palin Out”

Rove says Sarah Palin will run for President in 2012, after losing for Vice President in 2008. The former Alaska Governor is scheduled to give a big speech to a national Tea Party Convention in Iowa next month. Rove predicts she will announce her candidacy at that event.

“My take: This is a brilliant ploy by Fox News creator Roger Ailes to call Palin out since, it is generally believed he only kept paying her big salary as a Fox News contributor after she promised back in the spring not to run for President. At the time, Fox News stopped paying Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mike Huckabee. As with Palin, Ailes reportedly called them and asked their intentions. Huckabee stayed on, months later declining to run for the White House, even though he was a GOP nomination frontrunner. Newt and Rick resigned their “commission” in the Ailes army, and months later declared their presidential candidacies. ”

“This makes Ailes look bad: and those who know him know that for him, image is everything. So, Ailes got Rove to call Palin out, a brilliant stroke in my opinion, for several reasons. ”

TEA PARTY OF AMERICA – ITS ELECTORAL GOALS – & A QUESTION ABOUT ITS FUNDING

The September 3 Indianola event, with headline speaker Sarah Palin, is billed as the first major public event of a newly-organized legal non-profit Political Action Committee. According to their own statement, their purpose is to get the right people elected to Congress and particularly to the White House.

Ken Crow, identified as the Founder of the Tea Party of America, writes at http://www.teapartyofamerica.org/a-message-to-our-patriots/

“…The truth is, we do all agree on a couple of items that must be accomplished as soon as possible. The first being the defeat of President Obama. The second being the election of a true conservative President. We all agree on Border Security, the Balancing of the Budget and several more items mentioned above. We believe that we can all come together to support the candidates that the Patriots (Members) choose whom meet ALL OF THE FUNDAMENTAL DESIRES THAT WE ALL SEEK. It is Tea Party of America’s belief that if we band together, then we can affect change through the power of the masses at the election booth. WE (meaning the Members/Patriots) will support these candidates with boots on the ground, funding and votes to insure that “OUR” Candidates get elected. Remember Patriots, this is YOUR Tea Party. We must come together for the common good and common goals. This is the only way we will affect change in Washington D. C. and more importantly 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.”

Organizing the event in Indianola involves many expenses – rental of the physical facilities, publicity (e.g. website, radio ads), hiring the band, perhaps traveling expenses and speaker’s fees for the people appearing, perhaps buses to bring audience members, etc. Clearly they have enough money on hand to do this. Who did it come from? Possibly from the same people referred to in a blog article by Kathleen McLaughlin-Hoppe, with the provocative title “Tea Party of America Unaware of How It Has Been Purchased; Unwilling to Look at Evidence”
http://blahger.net/2011/03/24/tea-party-of-america-unaware-of-how-it-has-been-purchased-unwilling-to-look-at-evidence/ Ms. McLaughlin-Hoppe goes on to cite Jane Mayer’s article in the New Yorker dated August 30, 2010 http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/30/100830fa_fact_mayer

This is not pleasant reading, but it is thought-provoking. Many conservatives have read the science fiction of Robert A. Heinlein – it is from RAH that I became aware of the acronym TANSTAAFL – there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch. If lunch is on the table, SOMEBODY paid for it; and they had a reason to do so. Who’s paying for this lunch, and why?

  • PollyinAK:

She’s a sad and funny piece of work.

  • carollt:

I think her moment is done. With Perry and Bachmann in the race (especially Perry), there is no room for Sarah.

I believe it is Politico who is hosting a debate on September 7, 2011. If she announces, will she attend this debate? Perry is very good thinking on his feet; Palin is not very good at thinking period.

  • msf:

I was surprised we didn’t see more of Ron Jr. when she was doing her Reagan impersonation.

  • aussiegal77:

I’m still betting she will announce her intention to be a candidate, grift the fanfare and publicity for all it’s worth then quit spectacularly and blame….who else….the Media for being mean to her family, her kids. The blame will also go to the bloggers and the authors who are all haters trying to derail her destiny. She’ll quit the ultimate victim then go on soliciting donations into the near future. Punctuated by occasional tweets, Facebook posts and the odd video here and there. And oh yes, Obama Bashing. Lots and lots of Obama bashing.

  • Linda:

what i HOPE is that she announces that trig, indeed, is not her biological child, but is adopted (maybe she will reveal his origins). she will say that family is far more important to her than politics, fame, and glory, and these years of running all over the country have been harmful to her family in many ways. therefore, she will announce, she is going to retire from the public eye and attend to her family.

i know – that all sounds too rational. but that is what i am hoping for.

  • karenw729:

Hey Joe, off topic, but have you seen this:

    http://www.scribd.com/doc/6473754/Sarah-Palin-Stats

Wondering if this info is legit…amazed by the GPA and IQ score, but not in a good way!

  • Angiemomma:

Maybe she’ll finally explain her magical, mystery, three-week pregnancy with Trig.

  • jeff:

    Joe,

I wouldn’t have been quite so slow to finally get your metaphor of the Alpo Dog Food Can-shaped balloon representing Palin bringing her HOT AIR back to Iowa if the can had instead been labelled been “Sarah Lou’s Buttered & Deep Fried Moose Nuggets”.

I’d like to see one of those balloons with the likeness of Karl Rove’s big head. Then again, Sarah and her TeaBagger pals who are packing might have to take a couple of potshots. Just sayin’.

  • stubbornandgleefulanonymous:

She IS running and has been since 2009. The only thing she hasn’t done is formally announce.
Consider that all of her activities are very clearly political and gathering support, in nature.

    And then she’ll withdraw.

As an independent Alaska candidate, she’s got awhile before a deadline, but she needs signatures.

  • Montrealer:

The concensus seems to be that if Palin does decide run, she will withdraw at some point or another. So, running or not, she will never take up residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Whew!!!

  • Felix:

Are those IQ and GPA numbers for real?

If so, that’s the end for her.

We don’t need a genius as President, but we need thoughtful, intelligent, educated nominees. No wonder she’s so defensive. She’s playing in the big leagues when she knows she’s not qualified to be there.

  • Jolene:

Wow, that is a gold mine! Especially the articles from The Frontiersman.

  • Jolene:

There’s a discussion about this info on the Laura Novak blog today. Apparently much of this stuff has been debunked. An IQ of 83 does seem ridiculously low, even for SP.

  • Marc:

I think those numbers are fake. 83 is considered “dull” if I remember correctly, and although Palin appears like an 83 when answering questions which she is unprepared for, I would guess she’s at least in the normal range of IQ’s.

Don’t know if the SAT and high school numbers are valid either, but she has stated that she received a “D” in Macroeconomics in college.

  • aview999:

Oh what an Image Curiouser! lol!

  • Pamela:

I think the announcement will be that she decided not to run because of the nasty media but she will be available if the Tea Party or a 3rd party BEG her to run. In the meantime she’ll advise her supporters to keep sending the $ because she will decide the best way to use it (line her pockets) to help America and God and the Palin family.

  • diz:

The report card has been debunked as a photo-shopped version of one issued to a young woman named Dawn Eden. It’s unfortunate that these little tidbits float around damaging the cause of our real concerns about Palin. It only serves to support her whining claims that her detractors have lied about her and attacked her. I’m with the many who believe that her record in public service, the lack of a cohesive plan should she be elected along with her petulant obsession for attacking the President at every opportunity should be enough to keep her from being a viable candidate for POTUS.

  • nancydrewed:

@Linda. Yes, and then the Tea Party will follow up with a gathering where its de facto leadership announces that it apologizes to America for all the damage it’s done: “Wow — we didn’t anticipate those 401K hits you took, and wow, middle-class — we didn’t really see how the ‘death-panel’ stuff could have been misinterpreted to mean your medicare and my SS. Oh. And we sure didn’t understand how our antics would put our two-party system, and democracy in jeopardy. Oh, no, how could we have foreseen that ? And as for Sarah. Well, yes, she’s sorry too. As she just said. Pax and kumbaya.” 😉 Giggles all ’round.

  • roz:

“Hot Air” announcement at a Hot-Air Balloon Event – how poignant, indeed! She’s nothing but an illiterate windbag and filled with hot air from her head to her toes.

  • Sally:

The Tea Party has been expecting a ‘major announcement’ from the Quitter Queen every time she has shown her bewigged head this summer. Can they handle yet another disappointment?

  • Bretta:

This post makes the most sense, Ella. Much better than the will she/won’t she speculation – it appears to have a rationale to back it up.

I think Fox wants to get rid of her, too.

  • sallyngarland,tx:

Maybe Palin going to endorse Herman Cain as revenge against Perry and Bachmann.

  • VictoriaJ:

    Run Sarah, Run!

There will be monkeys drinking moonshine and pigs riding donkeys.
Moose hats will be worn while people dressed in Mama Grizzly bear outfits
will wear bad wigs and spout tea bagger nonsense. There will be nasty tweets and
ghostwritten Facebook rants. The One Nation bus will run over anyone east of the Mississippi
and north of the Mason Dixon Line. Sarah will mangle history, the english language, the Constitution,
economics and anything having to do with what is actually important in this country. The GOP will
conversely cheer and moan (deeply and widely).

She and her children will be victims and the media will lap it up like the dogs they are. She will rip the GOP to shreds while spouting her drinking game talking points. Common sense. Conservative values. Politics as usual. Dogoneit! Elitism. Everybody wants to kill my children. Look at Todd. Mama Grizzlies. Obama
Bad. Death Panels. Poor people bad unless bad. Corporations good. Drill baby Drill.

    What a sad soul she is. I still want her to run . . . . .

  • mea:

the article on c4p about the tea party radio blitz in iowa for palin event indicates that they’ve heard that palin will NOT announce on Sept. 3.
i have money on her not running at all.

  • GB:

    @ Linda & Nancy

And then John Mccain announces he’s sorry for bringing Sarah to the national stage, Ron paul appologizes for bringing Rand to life, and Bush and Cheyney go on 60 minutes to appologize for the two wars, torture, and cutting taxes.
Also too, Bristol kisses and makes up with Levi and reclaims Trig as her own.

  • GB:

She’s running. God told her to.

  • B:

At least tonight, I don’t care what she does. I do want Obama to win reelection and the truth about Babygate to come out in the MSM, not only vindicating us but also showing that the emperor press has no clothes and the Republican Party has no shame.

Joe, as a gifted and best-selling author, you do us a great service by using your talents to examine Sarah. I don’t always agree with you (e.g., I still find Levi a sympathetic figure) but I appreciate your willingness to interact with us this past year. I can’t wait to buy and read The Rogue! Have a great rest-of-your-life.

  • Joe, widr, as they say, the people who comment here come from many life avenues. One of them, unless the law of attraction has ceased to exist, must be the wishful clever Palinbots. They’ll appear as concerned, or outraged, or even compassionate but leave a prickly barb in their posts.

I ordered your book and I won’t be cancelling it, but along with others, I’m rather dismayed at your recent blame-laying, when after all, you had to curtail comments on the blog due to other responsibilities.

You are, without doubt, a worthy author. But don’t try to stick it to those of us who’ve done ten times the legwork you did to painfully, piece by piece, solve the puzzle of the SuperGrifter that is Sarah Palin. Should your book, which I will read assiduously, actually break new ground? I will be among the first to congratulate and cheer you. Should your book only restate that which we already know? I will sigh and swallow the price for the delivery.

Your rep is on the line now with those of us who know what you are only trignostic about.

  • B:

“those of us who know what you are only trignostic about”

Great line, Ennealogic. Hello from one of your greatest fans! I appreciate what each person has done to expose Babygate (and Housegate, etc.), and you’ve done way more than your fair share. You’re always a voice of reason. And I bet you, like me but unlike Joe, are at least a little sympathetic toward Levi.

  • msf:

    Well said.

  • Sheesh:

Actually, I think the happiest person in America should SP run will be the Mittster. He’s the one with the most to benefit with SP in the race. He can sit back and let the crazies duke it out and it won’t cost him a dime 🙂

  • marthauys:

A troll called a “wishful clever Palinbot” is still a troll – and I haven’t seen any around here. For one thing, as you must know well by now, they aren’t very clever for the most part. They don’t have senses of humor, nor can many write very well. I’ve seen a lot of humor here, and great expressions through writing using big words and personal experiences to convey their thoughts.

Hollering out “Troll!” or “Concern Troll!” every time someone expresses an opinion that is not the same as yours is such a waste of all of our time. We faux troll types just roll our eyes, and hope that sanity prevails once again when everyone isn’t so freaked out. It’s nothing personal, but it’s past time to grow beyond the name calling and branding. If you “sigh” because Joe did his own research as an author without consulting the group who has a litany down re: Palin offenses and conspiracies which they can recite while sleepwalking, then a big sigh it will be. We all have our place in the world – even the silly little Palinbots.

  • Wolfbitch:

I don’t know what IQ test was used to generate those numbers, but it appears that the upper end of the scale was only at 115. Most IQ tests run the upper end to around 200. A test running to 115 does put 83 in the high-average range. I should go back and look at the test name, I think – I could research it and see what’s up with the 115 max. It’s not like any IQ test I studied in collitch. (<=== spelled funny for a joke, not cuz I haz a 83 IQ neither.)

  • Marie:

Sarah has a new facebook post, also posted on her pac website that denies any announcement on Sept 3 and gives Kudos to CNN for quoting her correctly. We now know that she used CNN to give them an interview that she could use in her video; that was well planned in advance and CNN got picked to be her puppet for the day.

  • curiouser:

Here’s the key excerpt from the original news article:

“Speculation that Palin might use the Labor Day weekend event to declare her candidacy has ramped up on cable news and the conservative blogosphere, but RCP has learned from sources close Palin that an official announcement is unlikely at that time.”[sic]

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2011/08/21/tea_party_group_launches_iowa_radio_blitz_for_palin_event_111038.html

I’m betting hoards of media will still show up on Sept. 3. I hope someone finds out if Sarah is being paid for her appearance at the event.

  • John Thomas:

The curve that shows where she is with an arrow is a classic and should be widely viewed.
Haha – sarah of the 800 and some change SATs.

  • stubbornandgleefulanonymous:

Waittaminute. Didn’t that already happen? I’ve lost track of the social side of things with them. Everything is so very very complicated, I can’t keep up.

  • LaniN:

This was debunked during the ’08 campaign. Sorry to see it showing up again. There are real ways that Palin fails, we don’t need to rehash the fake ones. Thanks for posting that.

  • lilly lily:

Palin and McCain were big time gamblers. He took a chance on Palin. Win big or lose big and he lost big time.

He is still losing and big time.

Sarah wants the thrill of the chase. She is the rabbit and the press are the hounds. A fox according to fox hunter enjoys the chase (as long as he is not killed by the hounds).

I’m not so sure of that.

By now I’m sure the woman is a bit winded and a bit ragged, but as long as she is chasing the big buck she will continue.

I was sent a gift card for Barnes and Noble.

I’ll toss a coin to see what I buy.

I am a gambler. Not quite as big time as McCain.

I want her off the political map.

If your book can help do that, more power to you.

Glad to see the brouhaha has died down. It always does, eventually.

  • lilly lily:

Having friends who owned balloons and did this for many years, I wonder if Sarah is aware of the perils?

If the Palin pair decides to be adventursome and go fly in a balloon and there is a updraft and the wrong air currents and clouds the awesome duo might get sucked up and go UP UP and away.

  • Nick G:

I hope she joins the race and for no other reason than it will give me hours of entertainment. 🙂

Also it’s a great way to finally lance a boil. Let the puss splatter!
